The Protea Hotel with its stunning sea views and location make this Hotel the place to stay. Protea is situated in the heart of Umhlanga Village which is renowned for top quality restaurants and bars. The beautiful Umhlanga beaches lie within a couple minutes’ walk.
Mount Edgecombe Country Club - Designed to U.S.G.A. specifications and host for the 2013 European Tours Volvo Championship. It is the only course in the country planted with Royal Blue grass from tee to green. Durban Country Club Beachwood Course lies about 2 km north of DCC. Although it borders the Indian Ocean. The fairways run parallel to one another in a N-NE / S-SW direction. The sixth and ninth fairways both have a dog-leg left to consider whereas the other fairways are all straight. There are 41 bunkers around the greens, and 33 fairway bunkers waiting for wayward shots. Four of the holes are blessed with water features and most fairways are lined with trees. An interesting aspect of the course is that it lies at the southern end of Virginia Airport - mainly for small commercial aircraft, private flights, training flights and helicopters - adding an element of excitement to see these small aircraft take off and land directly overhead.

Der Durban Country Club Beachwood Course liegt ca. 2 km nördlich vom DCC, genzt aber dennoch an den Indischen Ocean. Die Fairways verlaufen paralell zueinander in N-NE / S-SW Richtung. An die 41 Bunker um die Greens, and 33 Fairway Bunkers erwarten ihre Abschläge. Erschwerend sind einige Löcher mit Wasserarrangements umgeben und fast alle Fairways werden von Bäumen eingesäumt. Der Golfkurs ist am Südende des Virginia Airports gelegen, der gelegentlich von leichten Flugzeugen und Helicopter angeflogen wird. Dieser Umstand bringt sicherlich ein gewissen Unterhaltungseffekt mit sich, diese Aircrafts beim Start und Landung unmittelbar zu beobachten.

The start of the St Lucia Estuary, the Estuary Mouth, is situated within the town of St Lucia, the Southernmost point of Lake St Lucia, within the province of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. This area was proclaimed a World Heritage Site in 1999, and recently the adjacent Wetland Park bordering St Lucia was renamed the iSimangaliso Wetland Park - South Africa's first Unesco World Heritage Site. The Estuary is the largest estuarine system on the African Continent and boasts the largest concentration of Hippo in South Africa. All the guides themselves are keen birdwatchers, so over and above seeing many Hippo and Crocs on each tour, there is an abundant variety of prolific bird life. This is a full educational trip about the Wetlands and whatever else you see, and questions are welcome at any time!

No other golf club has hosted the South African Open and other important tournaments as often as Durban Country Club. Many of the holes are positively stunning. The short 12th hole has a steeply raised green and is today called the Prince of Wales hole. The Prince who played here in 1924 needed 17 strokes to complete the hole! Much of the history of the game in South Africa has been enacted here, and most of the great players have made their pilgrimage to it. Sid Brews, Bobby Locke and Gary Player have has some of their greatest moments at the Country Club. In 2010 Ernie Els won his fourth South African Open at the club, narrowly beating Retief in the final round. In 2013 Durban was host to the European Sanctioned Volvo Golf Championships won by Louis Oosthuisen.
